Chambers of Agriculture History in Poland
The earliest Chambers of Agriculture were established on Polish land under Prussia rule. At first they were based on legal solutions of states under rules. The beginning of new era in the Chambers of Agriculture history in Poland came into existence when the Interwar Period legislation began (1919-1939). Chambers of Agriculture organization of that period matched the highest expectations of contemporary theory and economic self-government practice. The present Chambers of Agriculture in Poland have a system of public low corporation with a compulsory membership. However, their possibilities are definitely lower than those in the period of II Republic of Poland and those which are in the European Union. Agricultural self-government in Poland do not come to farmers' expectations. Changes related to Chambers of Agriculture organization in Poland should aim towards giving them such assignments, authority, financial and practical instruments to have a real influence on both rural and agricultural development according to West- European solutions.
Mr. Herbert Czaja had been the President of the Chamber of Agriculture for 17 years. On the 3rd of September Mr. Marek Froelich was elected the new President of the Chamber in Opole.
